Carnival Panorama to feature ‘dancing drones’ as part of entertainment line-up

Carnival Cruise Line has announced the entertainment line-up aboard its new ship Carnival Panorama, including ‘dancing drones’ and two new theatre productions.

The dancing drones will feature in the new production shows Rock Revolution and Broadway Beats, both of which will debut aboard Carnival Panorama for the first time.

The drones will interact with the shows’ music and 12 performers “to create entertaining high-flying moments that add an exciting, never-before-seen visual element to the ship’s overall show experience” according to the cruise line.

“When planning Carnival Panorama’s Playlist Productions shows, we challenged ourselves to think more creatively than ever before to find ways to ‘wow’ both our longtime guests and those sailing with us for the first time,” said Kerry Stables, Creative Director of Carnival Productions.

“From performing drones to new music genres and a keen attention to costuming, décor and theme details, these shows prove how innovative our productions have become and raise the bar on our offerings in a fun, creative and unique way,” she added.

Rock Revolution is a concert-style show inspired by the Woodstock music festival that pays tribute to the music from the ‘Summer of ‘69’’ and fashion styles reminiscent of icons like Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin.

Top Los Angeles talent from Playlist Production include acclaimed artistic director Jonathan Tessero, and accomplished choreographer Rudy Abreu who worked on So You Think You Can Dance and World of Dance.

Broadway Beats follows a band of entertainers as they immerse themselves in New York’s most dynamic neighborhoods, with the various areas brought to life by hyper-realistic LED screens.

As the name suggests, the show is inspired by some of Broadway’s greatest hits, but puts a new spin on them thanks to the direction of award winning Broadway director Peter Flynn and choreographer Marcos Santana.

These two theatre productions will join “Soulbound” and “Celestial Strings”, which debuted aboard Carnival Horizon when she was launched last year.

The rock musicians, horn trio and string trio that cameo in these four productions will also have their own shows around the ship, as will a Latin quartet, while on the Retreat sun deck there will be South Beach-inspired Serenity Nights parties, and elsewhere on the ship Carnival’s version of Paramount TV’s “Lip Sync Battle”.

Carnival Panorama is due for delivery in December this year and will homeport in Long Beach, California. She will be the first new ship Carnival has based on the West Coast in more than two decades.
