Royal Caribbean International has launched its redeveloped Perfect Day at CocoCay private island in the Bahamas, with 11 cruise ships scheduled to call during the coming cruise season.
The island is the first in the cruise line’s new Perfect Day Island Collection of next-level private destinations around the world. It was partially opened a few weeks ago for select cruise calls, but will now operate at full capacity.
The US $250 million transformation of the island introduces a combination of what Royal Caribbean calls “first-of-their-kind thrills and one-of-a-kind ways to chill” that it promises will “forever change what is possible in a vacation destination”.
Some of the standout first-of-their-kind thrills include Devil’s Peak, the tallest waterslide in North America, and Up, Up and Away, a tethered helium balloon that rises 450-feet in the air.
Perfect Day also features the Caribbean’s largest wave pool, and its largest freshwater pool, Oasis Lagoon.
Surrounding the island are pristine, white sand beaches with crystal-clear tropical water, so guests of all ages can create their perfect beach day whether that be beach sports, snorkeling, sunbathing and swimming or sipping a cocktail in a cabana.

Royal Caribbean is anticipating huge demand for the island, and has previously indicated that it may eventually accommodate more than 12,000 passengers on a single day, with three Oasis-class ships docked simultaneously.
The cruise line’s expectations for the island’s first year are more modest, with up to 2-million guests expected to visit Perfect Day at CocoCay in the coming 12 months.
It’s also planning to take the private island cruise destination concept global, with five ‘Perfect Day at CocoCay’ private islands planned over the next five years, primarily in the fast-growing source markets of Asia and Australia.
