Celebrity Cruises follows Silversea into luxury expedition market with Celebrity Flora

Just one day after Silversea Cruises re-launched its Silver Cloud cruise ship following an extensive refit to make her expedition cruising compliant, Celebrity Cruises has announced the order of a brand new expedition ship Celebrity Flora.

Celebrity Flora marks the luxury cruise line’s first entry into the premium expedition market and they’ve spared no expense in her design. Described by Celebrity as “an elevated and inspired approach to marine exploration”, the ship has been designed expressly for the Galapagos Islands.

She will have a guest capacity of 100 and every single cabin will be an outside stateroom, with sweeping views of the ocean.

“Innovative outward-facing design gives guests 360-degree views of the islands, while personal suite attendants, new dining venues, an open-air stargazing platform, and expert-lead ecological seminars will round out the modern luxury vacation experience,” the cruise line said in a statement.

She will also be one of the most energy-efficient ships of its size in the diverse archipelago with anchorless technology that maintains the ship’s position while protecting the sensitive sea floor.
